Pour Out Some Juice for Wellness Inspiration Jack Lalanne

Jack Lalanne swimming 3-miles to Alcatraz in handcuffs, while towing a fleet of rowboats.  Not much more to say than: Bad Ass Dude.

Before we had Jane Fonda (and certainly long before Jane Fonda joined forces with Tara Stiles); preceding the Cabbage Soup DietTranscendental MeditationPatricia Walden videosthe Atkins Dietthe Zone Diet, vegans, raw foodists, fruitarians, the barefoot running movement, and, even, The Biggest Loser: the wellness world had Jack Lalanne.

The “godfather of fitness,” as he is known, Lalanne lauded exercise before it was en vogue (or a cultural necessity–his was not the era of widespread obesity), lifted weights before any other beefcake, opened the first health spa in the 1930s, and, yes, juiced before the rest of us.

Yesterday, he passed away at the age of 96.  So, please raise a glass of your freshest, favorite juice and toast one groovy guy who inspired many people to live longer, happier, healthier lives.

Cheers, to you, Jack!

    Juicing rules.

My morning concoction usually consists of:
    – 2 C Unsweetened Almond Milk or Coconut Water
    – 1 Banana
    – 1T chia seeds or 1T flax oil
    – 1T spirulina powder
    – 2 C raw organic spinach
    – 1/2 C frozen mango or papaya
    – 1/2 C frozen pineapple or strawberries
    – Ice is optional – I like it because it gets all smoothie-ish

Blend. And, cheers to Jack! :)

Beet Juice baby! OK, it doesn’t take good- but it does good things. Orange, ginger, apple and carrot help to make it better. Or- I do the Beet Blackberry, which is two cups (yes) of beet juice blended with frozen blackberries. Beets are awesome for skin, immune system and athletic performance…..and fun party trick, turns your piss purple. Who doesn’t love that?
