Good Art Friends | Inner Artist Academy
Inner Artist Academy
Send your inner artist back to school this September. Not to accumulate grades, cram for tests, or subsist on ramen, but to nourish your unique talents, gifts, obsessions, and curiosities. (You can still enjoy ramen, too).
Inner Artist Academy brings together a thriving, diverse, intergenerational, and multidisciplinary cohort of writers to learn from each other, plug into a fresh source of creative energy, and generate guaranteed momentum. Both new students and Good Art Friends alumni are welcome. Our writers represent published authors, people journaling for self-inquiry and care, and everyone in between.
Sharpen your pencils, shine up your loafers, and break out your corduroy blazer—it’s time to gather in the quad and run to class before the bell.
Fridays, 12-1:00 PM (+ optional office hours 30-minutes following LIVE session)
September 25-October 30 (6 sessions via Zoom)
About Good Art Friends
Good Art Friends is a mindful writing group for creating, sharing, and nurturing your work and life. All levels and genres of writers (and meditators) are welcome, from New York Times best-selling authors to writers journaling as a form of self-care and inquiry. Each session is unique, welcoming a new combination of multi-disciplinary, intergenerational members and incorporating fresh themes, skills, and featured guest authors and artists.
Sessions are generative, as opposed to critical (i.e., workshop model), with a focus on reducing stress in the creative process and, more importantly, daily life. Meditation, creative expression, and social connection are all proven strategies for better mental health and overall well-being.
Sharing your writing is encouraged but not required. Each 1-hour online session features: guided breathwork and/or meditation, creative writing prompt(s), and thoughtful discussion, followed by 20-30 minutes of Office Hours, unstructured time for questions about craft, publishing, and more, socializing, and extra support. Writers may choose to work on new or existing projects.
Details
Each 1-hour session (+ optional 20-30-minute Office Hours) includes an intellectually stimulating theme, guided meditation, creative writing prompt, and space for meaningful connection to ideas, inspiration, and each other. Sessions are recorded and shared with the group and can be enjoyed on-demand if you cannot attend LIVE.
